On the Mend...
Thank you so much for all of you who have been praying for baby Paul! By the grace of God he is doing much better. As far as we can tell, his little lung is back to normal. He has transitioned to vapo-therm through a nasal canula. This is much more comfortable for him than the nasal CPAP mask he was on. His vitals and saturations look incredibly promising. We did transition to monogin formula from breast milk as this will expedite the removal of his third and final chest tube. We will freeze all milk and re-introduce it in a few weeks. So, a few hic-cups but Paul is doing so well. Dan and I are loving being parents and got to hold him for almost an hour today. We are always reminded of and thankful for our love for one another through this time.
We also got to visit with one of my favorite people and fellow heart mom, Diana Dowdle for a while today. It is so amazing to know so many folks who know just how you feel and just what you need without judgment. We are blessed also by the support of Katie Doughtery and her middle school art classes as they produced 150 cards for VU nurses in honor of Paul. We are continually humbled by the outpouring of meals, support, donations, love, and little things to make our stay comfortable from so many folks. It is really hard to ask for help and harder sometimes to accept it, but we can and WILL pay all this forward.
We hope that the Lord blesses you and keeps you this holiday season. We thank you for following little Paul’s journey and pray you receive the peace and support we have felt from you.
