Back in the hospital again! :(
Paul has been doing wonderfully at home. This weekend he was a little fussy, had a low grade fever, and was in general uncomfortable. On Monday, he started gagging and retching quite a bit and at 9am threw up his feed plus more. We came into clinic where they observed that his hands were a little clammy and his demeanor was a little off. They decided to check us in for observation. It’s a good thing that they did because he threw up quite a bit at 3am (this would have meant a trip to the ER) and spiked a fever this morning which went down with some Tylenol and a little love. His blood work and xrays have all looked wonderful so everyone is puzzled as to exactly what is going on. We did make a few important changes yesterday 1) We changed his meds- we went down on lasiks (diuretic) and took out his aldactone (the potassium sparing med) as his potassium level was at 5.0 (the high end of normal) and 2) we decreased to 27 calorie formula- this hopefully should work well. Being in the hospital stinks for him and us- however, we are thankful that we live so close and have so much wonderful support right here in our back yard. Looks like we are still on for the cath and all systems are go as long as he stays well in here. We will keep you posted!
