Pretty Good Report
The results are in and Paul’s heart is looking good. His function is still mildly depressed but it continues to get better each time we look at it. Tricuspid and Neo-Aorta leakage is mild and EKG and chest xray look normal. We are going back to cardiology in TWO MONTHS. We are slowly weaning diuretics and will be able to put Paul on enalapril if he needs it once our diuretics are down.
We also had a visit with pediatric surgery and our wonderful nutritionist, Kayla. Surgery indicated that his Gtube site looks good and suggested continuous feeds to cope with his feeding problems. Neither Dan nor I nor Dr. Parra nor Kayla think that this is a good option, so we looked to Kayla to help with plan B. We have decided to decrease Paul’s calories to 26 calorie formula and slow his rate back down to an hour as opposed to 30 minutes. We pray this will work.
We continue to pray for Paul’s function to return and his GI issues to resolve over time. We had an opportunity to visit with Dylan’s Mommy while we were there. He is rocking his co-arctation repair and his mom is bravely plugging through. Our dear friend Jude is HOME from his Fontan (yep, he was only in the hospital 9 days) and mutual friend Ayden is slowly and surely recovering from his Fontan last Monday. I had the opportunity to chat with his Daddy and little brother for a bit which was an unexpected blessing of the day.
We thank you for following our journey.
