Paul has had quite an eventful few weeks. We lost a dear friend, Ethan Hilton, a few weeks ago and while mourning him we were able to reconnect with old and dear friends. I imagine Ethan would have really loved Paul and Paul him. We feel his presence watching over our little one and will miss him terribly.
With the fourth of July came a visit from Paul’s grandmother, cousins and great grandmother! We had a wonderful time playing, swimming, and just being together. It is hard to believe that we have not been to cardiology in so many weeks! We are, as usual, cautiously optimistic that his function is improving and that we get a good report when we return in August.
Paul also had a repeat swallow study and while he is still aspirating thinned liquids, he was cleared to eat baby food and thickened formula. He LOVES to eat with his mouth and we are slowly and surely making progress in this area. He has continued to gain A LOT of weight (he’s almost 17 pounds now!). I am passionate about tubies and their families as I am learning that folks don’t always know how to react to a child that is tube fed.
Perhaps one of the most special days of the last month was Paul’s presentation at South End United Methodist Church and our confirmation of membership with the church body. We have found a wonderful church family at South End and are so blessed by all of their love and support. Paul relished the attention and seems to really enjoy church and children’s time.
Paul has been rolling around, sitting up, playing with all sorts of toys and blocks, he loves “reading” and laughing and riding in the car! We count it an incredible blessing to be his parents and I pray everyday for a long and happy life for Paul.
We appreciate each of you and invite you to come over and meet our warrior when you can!
We will miss you, Ethan!
